What are Vital Tears?

Autologous serum tears are customized eye drops made from a patient’s own blood serum according to the specifications ordered by their eye care provider. Ophthalmologists and optometrists have offered serum tears to their patients for over 30 years to treat a variety of eye conditions.

Vital Tears was founded in 2015 with a mission to provide convenient, high-quality serum tears for anyone in the United States. We are passionate about helping patients get the serum tears they need quickly and conveniently.

How do I order Vital Tears?

Talk to Your Eye Care Provider

Begin by consulting with your ophthalmologist or optometrist. They will assess your eye condition and determine if Vital Tears is the right treatment option for you. If so, they will write a personalized prescription and place the order for Vital Tears.

Blood Collection

A Vital Tears Patient Services representative will call you to schedule your blood draw at one of our contracted blood collection facilities. You can also choose to have your blood drawn at home!

Eye Drop Processing

Once your blood is collected, it will be shipped to our laboratory where trained technicians will process your serum tears using validated safety procedures. Our priority is getting your serum tears to you in as little as 48 hours from your blood draw.

Delivery

Your Vital Tears will be shipped directly to your home or office. A Patient Services representative will contact you to schedule a convenient delivery time and location.
